黄沧粟1960年出生于浙江临海。字焕英，号括苍人、巾子山人、依山居士、云古斋主。1988年毕业于浙江美术学院（现中国美术学院）中国画师范专业，从师陆俨少、周昌谷、顾生岳、李震坚、宋忠元、方增先、吴山明、陆抑非、沙孟海、全山石、李子侯、张品操等教授。原辽宁师范大学美术学院教授，硕士研究生导师。

Huang Cangsu was born in 1960 in Linhai, Zhejiang Province. His courtesy name was Huanying, and his literary pseudonyms included Kuocangren, Jinzishanren, Yishan Jushi, and Yun Guzhizhu.
